Do you think the crazies could actually succeed in abolishing the electoral college? Would the salt of the earth stand idly by and let them?

States mandating electoral college members votes has already been tossed by the appellate court. Electors have always been free to cast votes for whichever candidate they wish. They cannot be threatened with punishment for "unfaithful votes". States passing measures ordering electors to vote in a particular way has been declared unconstitutional.

To do away with the Electoral College they need to amend the constitution. Getting 2/3 of the states to ratify is out of reach. It isn't happening.
