How many other insomniacs force themselves to make it through the day?

I ask this as, no sleep yet again, happens to me 2/3 times a week and If I've not slept by 4am I force myself to stay awake until the next night. Anyone else go by this strategy?

I never have trouble falling asleep but often i wake up after 3 - 5 hours and there's no going back to sleep, then i'm wrecked all day at work. The only things that work for me are either huge amounts of exercise which mostly isn't possible or taking a sleeping tablet which can't be done regularly for obvious reasons. So i'm open to new strategies.

@SW-User Yes! that's what I should of posted.. new strategies. I exercise and avoid tablets too.. I invested in these CBD sleeping tablets, frankly Pants! did nothing , I've tried meditation, audio books, really boring audio books :(

@Elfintrog As far as i can tell my sleeping issues are anxiety related. So i don't feel anxious before i go to sleep, but it's just enough that it happens during the day and then it has a delayed effect on my sleep. Exercise is great but i litereally need about 2 hours which is usually not possible and often that makes my muscles so sore that can wake me up :( The sleeping tables - temazepam 10mg are fantastic. I wake up feeling great and get maybe 6 - 8 hours sleep, but benzo's can't be taken regularly as you quickly become dependent on them and need more. So that leaves relaxation music and meditation but that bores me too. This sleeping problem never happened in my 30's or before 🤔

@SW-User Yes, mine only began in the last 5 years.. I can't meditate, its not that it bores me, but I make mental lists of what I need to do, and then start wondering what my best friend from primary school now looks like and if she's even still alive... and other pointless stuff. I am starting to understand why some drink before bed, but that's a dangerous route too.

@Elfintrog I can relate with regards to the meditating issue. And yes, alcohol isn't a good idea as while it helps people sleep, it disrupts the quality of the sleep apparently. I vote to become 30 again 😂
