Who says that? I love both, I definitely couldn't pick, although statistics would be super boring without calculus. I just don't understand how someone could answer with just statistics.

As the first of my majors, I am a mathematician.
So, even I still feel a childish love for school Algebra, I later went a bit beyond.
Algebra, both as Abstract one (Theory, metamathematics ant Topology) as the ones applied to Pattern Recognition, Planning ans Search resources.
