So, what's the worst smell you couldn't get rid of in your home?

I can get rid of most things, but I live in an apartment. Someone brought in some really, really strongly scented food. Everything smells like it, and I can't identify it. Burnt popcorn is bad, but this is like perma-grease in the air.

My downstairs neighbor. As near as I can tell, he is just one big stink that travels right up all the vents and gets into my apartment. Right after he moved in he pooped and the odor was indescribable. If he had been eating beans over potatoes and chasing them with beer and anchovies...something like that. I invested heavily in deodorizers that year.

Then he started smoking. He stunk up my whole place. I spent $250.00 on an air purifier that is so loud it sounds like I am running a leaf blower. I started going to the window and yelling, "Stop smoking!!!" Finally my apartment building banned smoking and vapes, and sent out notices that if you smoke on premises you will be evicted. So he would sneak cigarettes at 4:30 in the morning. I would wake up to the stink. I started to write letters every time he did it, and he has finally stopped.

BUT....he cooks. I had company over last week, and all of a sudden the whole place filled up with the smell of really old fish being cooked. Another time, I would have sworn that he was boiling his dirty diapers in a pot on the stove.

I'm used to it now. I keep a large fan pointed right at my kitchen, and once he starts to smell up my place, I run into the kitchen, turn on the stove vent fan, and turn on the big fan to keep his stink heading up to the roof.
