Aussies..and our brand of humour.
Our humour is different, and barely understood, but we can't just be someone else. Although, it is taxing to not be able to post as freely as the majority on here, you have to think.."will this offend them, will they take this the wrong way, will someone assume I am serious"
Firstly, apolgies for a lot of misunderstood, and even unwanted comments, I too have my reasons for being here. I have no malintent when I post on your threads, it's just me being me.
As Aussies, we use words that Americans are highly, highly, offended by..and I have to remember, not to use them..words i'd call my best mate, or even a stranger, who wouldn't be offended, I could even call a cop who pulled me over a funny bastard and he wouldnt take it as an insult. Here in Australia, while sounding terrible to you, its natural, and even a term of endearment.
We constantly laugh at our own expense and put each other down..it's not unsual to make jokes at the worst of times. People who have been in similar jobs where you deal with terrible things may know what im talking about. But we also do it daily..if your best mate fell off the roof and broke his leg, the first words might be, "gees..it could have been worse..it could have been me"
I come on, do one liners, Early morning and late at night are my worst times for slipping into being full Australian, I am just me, with less thought about how an American will take it, my bad, but it's tough to have to do constantly, I get excited when I see other Aussies on here..not because i think, of heres someone local but because I dont have to constantly change words in my head, analyse their meanings to others, and know that a dig at them is not taken as a cheap shot. Hell, I can say boot instead of trunk, bonnet and not hood, bum nuts instead of eggs, I can relax.
So, I am not here to please everyone, or change to fit in. I want to make real connections with people who appreciate my incredible wit...if all I do is meet 1 or 2 genuine people by being myself, that's a win in my book, but Im not deliberately trying to be a dickhead either..that part comes naturally, and I sure as hell am not trying to insult you. and sorry if I have, But I respect you all enough that I do actively try not to offend you.
Cheers
