I guess it really depends on how realistic and objective you are.
Most people seem to romanticise the idea that the old days were better... if they were able to go back and experience them in real time, they probably would understand that the romantic nature of their perception doesnt agree with objective reality. But it's easy to look back and cherry pick the good times. Like the 60s for instance, is often looked at a great moment in times where the hippies roamed the prairy and there was a lot of peace and love... untill you start remember Hill 359 in 'Nam.
