What's your opinion on the theory that happiness is a construct with no biological basis and humans aren't designed to be happy?

human creatures were not designed, they evolved only to evolve, that is, to survive in changing environment.

if happiness is necessary for species survival it has purpose, otherwise is redundant.

I think that its irrational to reduce human beings to their biology. Humans are torn between a transcendent consciousness that reachs outside of itself and their biological contingent existence. I'd say genuine happiness is found in exploration of the former.
I say happiness is the absence of anxiety and depression. That's biological.
Thank you for asking me and only me. Well, I'm not going to tell you - so there!!
It's joy misinterpreted.

Sounds like the same type bullshit theory of a cranky person that comes up with the idea that screaming that "Santa isn't real!" in front of the line of kids waiting to see him in the mall, because "We shouldn't lie to children".

It's bullshit. They aren't happy, so no one should be happy.

Bullshit...more like misery loves company.
I have depression, but don't believe everyone is unhappy.
