Do you think laws can protect you against abusive police officers ?? If not, do you have any protection at all against them ??

Nope. I'm speaking from personal experience.
Yeah, I completely stopped relying on them to do their job.

This is a side bar to your question but you know what's sad? I was going to respond about how these episodes w/people escalate more often than not because people just won't shut up...but I know haters will come at me. I personally don't think they roll out every morning looking to abuse people....if they pull you over, just do what they say and lawyer up...don't fight. BTW-my dad was a cop and I support the guys in blue!
@luctoretemergo my grandad was chief of police...... both me and my dad worked in corrections...... and i know the vast majority of police officers are good people who try to do a good job...... but, the shitty ones can give the whole force a bad rep
@luctoretemergo and i know there is a far greater chance that i wont get shot or arrested if i just keep my big mouth shut. LOL

I'm with ya my man...and like I say...I know there's bad people and "circumstances" but my dad would always say "don't answer them, let them say/do whatever they want...I'll come and get you"....
Thanks for being cool!
Can laws protect you from robbers, rapists and murderers?
Platoscave · F
@quitwhendone cops are supposed to be a model of civilized behavior.
SteveAt24 · 31-35, M
@Platoscave But they rarely are. Cops are way too often...either incompetent bullies or lazy morons.
Platoscave · F
@SteveAt24 so what is supposedly their PURPOSE then??
From any isolated particular incident - probably not, any more than anything can protect you from a criminal with a gun except having your own gun.

But if it’s a pattern of abuse, yes, there are avenues. In a car, if you are concerned about your safety - call 911 and tell them you are driving - slowly - to the nearest police station or other well-lit place with witnesses.

Several amendments about it

Yeah, I don't break the law and when told to do something I do it and don't threaten them. I'm perfectly safe.

The same protection you have against any criminal
Platoscave · F
No, you have to never present an ambiguous situation. Like being black in a poor neighborhood or a rich one.

And for me to say anything at all is so silly...

unless people read "The New Jim Crow", by Michelle Alexander

No, some not all are bat shit crazy. The blue code protects a lot of them. I don't know what the solution is.
FurryFace · 61-69, M
not really unless you video tape their wrong doing but they'll just take that too , oh well , so no you're screwed
Jackaloftheazuresand · 31-35, M
I have the right to kill any cop that screws with me in the ways that would truly hurt me
