Send people in the direction of jobs. I was in a laundromat at my apartment complex about 30 years ago and one of the neighbor ladies was there doing her laundry. She told me “I wish I could find a job.” I knew they were struggling because I saw her husband digging for aluminum cans to recycle in the dorm areas. I gave her the best advice I could. They had 2 young children and I told her if her husband could care for them while she worked it would save a great deal of $ for child care. He was a student & worked in the daytime. I went to my apartment and got the newspaper & gave it to her so she could look at the ads. A couple months later I saw her and she told me she had gotten a night job in a nursing home and was so happy now. Sometimes I think all we need to do is talk to each other more.
