if you were 29 yrs old, would you join the military?

I'm thinking about it.
65Roses · 26-30, F
Nope... I’m not strong enough, not strong enough physically, mentally, or emotionally. I wouldn’t last a day
@65Roses hm.
@65Rosessame never doing that
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Just think, you could be half way to retirement right now
MarineBob · 56-60, M
@blackychanx you keep working and don't touch the pension check
@MarineBob that doesn't sound promising
MarineBob · 56-60, M
Why not it's a nice nest egg, my health isn't the best but I won't have to struggle to make ends meet
I have a thing about being shot at. I wouldn't do it.
@wildbill83 I would suggest to you that you refrain from using words like "ignorant" and "stupid" when chatting with fellow SW users, especially me. This is the end of my discussion with you. Hope you have a great evening.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@quitwhendone Then I suggest you refrain from being a moron when arguing things you know nothing about...
@wildbill83 You do realize you are an arrogant idiot, don't you?

I wanted to join the army when I was 19 but I couldn’t because of my mental health and criminal record, but i would not have gone along with it anyway as I didn’t want to be part of that war in Iraq or East Timor. If my country were invaded different story but I would not be a part of a war that invaded other nations.
GallantlyChurlish · 46-50, M
Depends on what my goals are. What are yours?
GallantlyChurlish · 46-50, M
@blackychanx Independence from what, I wonder, because you’ll find the military comes with a lot of supervision; both in a professional and personal capacity for new troops.
@GallantlyChurlish yea that's true. wondering if that's something I won't mind.
GallantlyChurlish · 46-50, M
@blackychanx Those who have the most success, in my opinion, establish and keep focused on goals beyond simply joining. You’ll have plenty of days when it all seems like total bullshit, so having milestones towards longer term objectives will really help.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
What attracts you to the idea ?
@Picklebobble2 I am a freelance digital artist / graphic designer right now. so maybe that field or constructing aircrafts since I know how to weld a bit.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@blackychanx Fair enough ! Good luck !!
@Picklebobble2 thanks man
@xixgun man sign me the fuck up.
xixgun · M
@blackychanx (And free food!)
@xixgun the food won't seal the deal. but the other aspects contribute to a great regimen I wouldn't mind being apart of.

Yes, if that's what I wanted to do.
TheQueenBree · 26-30, F

It's still a good age to join and if you can run a 1.5 mile in 12min, you're good :-)
Check it out anyway. Don't let anything (other that disability) stop you from serving your country.
@eMortal yea man, thanks a lot

Are you fit and okay with taking orders? I don't mean McDonald's.
@ImKelsey lol. yes and yes.
ImKelsey · 26-30, F
@blackychanx Then go for it. Free education and a retirement package.
@ImKelsey sounds fucking good.
Thodsis · 51-55, M
Don't fight a war. It's a simple thing. Don't fight a war. Please don't. :)
@Thodsis you can be in the military and not on the frontlines.
Thodsis · 51-55, M
@blackychanx If you refused to fight and encouraged others to do so then a good thing might happen.
DDonde · 31-35, M
I wouldn't last. I don't have the mental fortitude.
Also I'm ineligible anyway because of my medical history.
@DDonde I hear you man. Better opportunities out there
Sharky86 · 36-40, M
I would not, but I’ve never seen that as an option for myself. For others it’s worked out very well.
