Well the 70's was full of industrial strife and the 80's was full of economical strife !
So i guess it follows that if Proprietor #1 couldn't make his business survivable, proprietor #2 would probably have pulled it down or turned it into something else reflecting the market of the time.

@calicuz My whole point is that those changes needn't have come in the 80s. I wanted the 80s to be a continuation of the 70s. Change is evil. Modernisation is cancer. Full stop.
