How do you think the idea of mental illness is being romanticized in our world today?

Ah, the "prince charming" that comes to save the depressed lady? Or she loves him even though he's a bit odd (crazy)?
Too bad so many people think that mental illness equals craziness...

I don't. I used to live around the block and across the street from a decrepit mental health facility, and I wasn't scared when people climbed the fence and walked down the street in their underwear or pajamas. (There were several.) My parents gave me to understand most of the people in there needed to be cared for. They were always found and returned when they walked out the front door or over the fence.
