As an individualist, I still benefit from some aspects of collectivism. When the benefit of the group is of greater value than the individual benefit, we have law enforcement, we pay taxes we don't always want to pay so that we have good roads and good schools, and we form in groups during our town hall meetings to hash out ways to benefit our local towns and cities in the best way.
@4meAndyou I personally believe that any autonomous society must employ a measure of collectivism in order to maintain an acceptable quality of life. Especially from a standpoint of faith. We are ordained as believers to be collectivist to a significant degree. I honestly feel that nationalism does not conflict with collectivism. The idea that the strong should care for, and protect the weak goes all the way back to Hammurabi! It is hard wired to the attribute of 'reason'.
