Respect is earned
@Periwinkle1 That makes sense to me. Starting out with basic respect and kindness, which is theirs to lose by their subsequent behavior. 🙂

@bijouxbroussard I understand what you're saying.
My default is to treat everyone by default with courtesy and decency.
If they earn respect, I will honour them with reverence that come with the earned respect.
@UserNameSW Reverence for me might come later. 😅

I respect whoever has earned my respect until they give me a reason not to. That goes for everyone. I don't just hand it out because I find out someone is older than me.

Old school. Even walk one step behind if walking with dad.

I tend to respect people until they give me a reason not to. But I scoff when someone attempts to use their age as a reason for why they're right or why their opinion is valid, when that is not necessarily relevant.

I respect everyone, until being disrespected.

I respect people as a whole. I dont discriminate.

I give respect to everyone regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, and so on....and I can take that respect away just as easily if they prove they do not deserve it. Once it is lost then and only then does it have to be earned to be restored.
