Do you respect your elders?

Or do you believe they don't deserve any respect at all?

Why or why not?

Respect is earned

Someone said it! Yes!
@Periwinkle1 Does that mean you disrespect people until they’ve earned respect ? 🤔

@bijouxbroussard
No... That isn’t what I meant

People earn the respect that we give them, if I am treated badly by a person, I will loose respect for them.
@Periwinkle1 But I’ve never understood “respect is earned”. When you’re just meeting someone, you don’t know them yet. Do they have to earn simple respect as fellow human beings ?
UserNameSW · 46-50, M
@bijouxbroussard by default everyone starts with neutrality, they then earn respect or disrespect by their actions.

Yes..
I’m a hardcore believer of being kind but not weak.
I will be kind to everyone, until they prove to me that they don’t deserve my kindness or respect.
@UserNameSW That’s not how I interact with people. My respect is theirs to lose.
@Periwinkle1 That makes sense to me. Starting out with basic respect and kindness, which is theirs to lose by their subsequent behavior. 🙂

@bijouxbroussard I understand what you're saying.
My default is to treat everyone by default with courtesy and decency.
If they earn respect, I will honour them with reverence that come with the earned respect.
@UserNameSW Reverence for me might come later. 😅
