Does it bother you if you call customer support and the advisor is in a different country?

JamesHanes · 26-30, M
Yes. Especially when dealing with Indians in Bangalore, pretending to be Americans and who cannot deviate from a script. Ultimately, unable to really help anyone.
St0ut · 51-55, M
Not so much as when customer support calls me to tell me my computer has been infected. Lololololl
@St0ut Now just go to this website and download the anti virus program.
When they can't speak clear English yes

I phoned up a car insurance company and it took 5 minutes for her to spell my name right.British phone number but the call centre was in South Africa. Not surprisingly I didn't take out their policy.

If I’m already annoyed then yes, an accent that is hard to understand can be very frustrating . Or worse, the ones that sound like soul less robots 😫
NeuroticByNature · 41-45, F
When its hard to hear them and hard to understsnd their English its bothersome.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Yes! I hate when Indian Jeff in India can’t understand me.
SheikYerbouti · 51-55, M
Yes. Hate getting some thick accented "Hello, my name is Michael "

Yes if I cannot understand them
TeresaRudolph71 · 51-55, F
Yes. It really bothers me when I have trouble understanding them, and even more when they don't understand me. And the worst is when they just keep repeating a script, like robots, like they haven't heard a thing I've said. 😡
bowman81 · M
Only when I have difficulty understanding them and they are unable to fix the problem I am calling about.
Wendy33 · F
Not in general, but when there is a language barrier it can be frustrating.
Ian123 · 61-69, M
Yes, and they cant speak English properly 😤
Fernie · F
It pisses me off BIG TIME! First because those jobs should be in MY country...as the business itself is...and B... so many of them...mostly in Bombay...speak very bad english. It's ALL wrong
SW-User
@Fernie What I find interesting about this point of view is that people don’t feel the same way about other things let’s say TVs. I mean would you be willing to pay $2000 for a made in your own country when you could buy the same tv for $500 if it’s made abroad?
Well I already assume the manufacturing is in another country why would the call center be any different. They can pay people in India pennies on the dollar.
Caprice · 41-45, F
As long as I can understand them and they can fix my problem, I don’t care.
Fernie · F
@Caprice that's selfish
Caprice · 41-45, F
Better than being bent of out shape about something I can’t do anything about@Fernie
xixgun · M
Only if I can’t understand them (and I worked in an international terminal at an airport)
Carver · 31-35, F
Yes! I need the people who are supposed to help me to speak American, god damn it!
Gangstress · 41-45, F
Nah not at all. IT support is dire in this country
St0ut · 51-55, M
[@no. Companies don’t want to pay a fair salary for us workers. It is the states is competing against near slave labor
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@St0ut @) er yes. In my case.
Like2play · M
I am ok with it if they can speak the language and be understood.
I haven’t had that problem. Yet.
