Yes. The only time I hit someone's dog I took it to the vet and paid for it. Where I live though the pet owner is responsible for the animal and any damage they cause. I have several pets but none have been hit by vehicles since I was a kid. I'm glad your pup will be okay.

@Fungirlmmm Pets are the responsibility of their owners around here too...The problem is, around here there are way too many who are just not responsible and too many who just don't care. Like I said in my response I've only done that on two occasions, and one of those the dog was killed. I still searched until I found the owner...the man and his son came down to the road side, took a look at the dog and said "yeah that's ours" then just picked it up by the tail and flung it over into the woods. I was totally dumbfounded at the lack of concern.

@indyjoe that is horrible

@indyjoe oh gosh that's terrible. I would have picked up the dog and buried it myself,with a prayer.gosh this is sad.

@Eddiesolds Yes it is sad...and it's appalling. We have ordinances here that are supposed to regulate pet ownership but they are rarely enforced and as a result there are way too many people who have pets and shouldn't or even deserve to.

@Fungirlmmm That is what I thought, I'll never forget that as long as I live.

@indyjoe I'm sorry you had that horrible experience.

@Fungirlmmm Thank you. It was a long time ago, but it is still in my memory, I can't drive that stretch of road and pass that spot without thinking about it.
