Anyone who is genuinely interested may find a valuable assertion in the writings of Isreali, Joseph Naveh' 'Origins of the Alphabet' or may wish to study this thesis of Joaquim Azevedo entitled 'The Origin and Transmission of the Alphabet'. It is extremely well-written.

Joseph Naveh's 'History of the Alphabet' - full text - can be found here.

I have printed editions of Naveh's works here at home but have not been able to find - yet - suitable pdf downloads for readers.

well I am sure in the garden and up until Babylon
they all spoke the same language ,taught to them as kids by Adam ,,until Nimrod tried to visit God
If we believe the Bible ,which I do
from that time on God made them learn new languages
so they would not attempt something so stupid again

I'm assuming staring or grunting at each other didn't quite as much do the job.. Although, technically that was a language too. There's so many unofficial languages because after all language is communication and communication amongst humans is innate.
