I believe in the decided possibility of alien life...even intelligent alien life. However, given that the universe is only about 14 billion years old, and by conservative estimates the first stars wouldn't have burned out creating the heavier elements like iron, plutonium, etc for about 9 billion years, and that our planet is about 4.5 billion years old, we may be among the very first intelligent life forms in the universe which would make contacting another intelligent species highly unlikely.

Can't see a reason why alien life doesn't exist somewhere
Benarro · 31-35, M
I think it's almost certain that earth-like life exists elsewhere in the universe, maybe even the solar system. Whether I'll live to see that confirmed I'm not sure.
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
Absolutely, I just don't believe they have been here or can visit because of the vast distances involved not just in space but in time as well.
sybille · 26-30, F
Space is gigantic so there is a high probability that they do exist somewhere.
