Ya'll know what sucks?

Trying to deal with someone who you don't know whether they actually stopped loving you or whether they're just an idiot who got themselves into a situation where they need to have stopped loving you and are trying to fake it until they make it because they can't deal with just how catastrophically they screwed up.

Oh...and also you still love them so damn much you actually care which one it is.

So much. I've been in this situation with my ex for almost 2 years now. Her feelings have went away for the most part and only briefly pop back up at times but I have no idea if she's just been lying to herself because she thinks we'd never work. The times they do pop up objectively are the times she seems to have the most mental clarity overall so I have hope but no idea if I'm just wasting my time.

I know that feel very well. Especially since our biggest issue on my side was that I'm not successful enough.

Nothing to be sorry about lol.

Ya, basically she left a much more successful guy for me and it really hurt her quality of life. Well by successful I mean purely income-wise, I'm pretty successful in other aspects in my field but the income isn't there yet. She's also significantly older than me so money matters more for her in the big picture.
