@SW-User it's not so much the having guns, it's more regulations on who is allowed to have guns. Banning guns entirely would be a useless pursuit, but there should definitely be controls on who can have a gun

@basilfawlty89 the general public shouldn't be allowed to have guns
JovialPlutonian · 36-40, M
@basilfawlty89 why useless?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@SW-User I wholely disagree, there's rational reasons someone might need a gun
If you love rurally, you need one to get food. Cops don't respond much to trouble in poorer areas, a gun can save your life. Some people are competition shooters and need guns for their sport. If the government becomes tyrannical the only way for the public to defend itself is with firearms.

The UK, Canada and many other nations including my own have firearm licenses for the general public. We don't have mass shootings or at least rarely do.
We however require license and registration and background checks.

@JovialPlutonian you speak from a position of privilege, be brown and poor in America with rising white supremacists while you have police brutality if you report it to the cops, then get back to me on whether you think guns should be banned.

@basilfawlty89 that's exactly what I mean 🤦‍♀️
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@SW-User but you said it shouldn't be available to meet he general public, that implies a civilian shouldn't have the right to buy a gun at all. I see no reason how buying a gun is wrong if you have license ans without a record of violent crime.

@basilfawlty89 I meant the general public shouldn't be allowed to have guns freely. A license and a background check is the right way to go but in America every Tom dick and harry owns a gun

@SW-User then we're in agreement. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a far right nutjob, the opposite, I'm far left, and that's why the idea of a totally disarmed proletariat scares me.

I wholly agree on background checks and licenses, pardon me misunderstanding.
