Honestly, I've never seen an actual answer to this question. It always comes down to it's ineffective (despite evidence to the contrary) or Trump is just a racist. I see the answers here aren't any different. There's no thought involved, it's just a knee-jerk reaction to Trump.

@Sicarium Oh I have just seen the "racist" word for the first time on my post lol

@Sicarium What "evidence to the contrary" are you siting?

@DunningKruger Data from places in the US where something beyond just a barrier has been built and from any number of border walls around the world. For instance, Yuma, AZ saw a near 90% reduction in illegal crossings when a reinforced, framed fence went up. Same thing in San Diego.

@Sicarium I am unable to confirm your numbers. Where did you get them?

@DunningKruger According to the comment time stamps, you spent a maximum of 5 minutes trying to "confirm numbers". I doubt you even Google'd one thing. You can't research anything in 5 minutes. But, in case you are being genuine, here's a start:

https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2017/feb/13/ron-johnson/border-fence-israel-cut-illegal-immigration-99-per/

@Sicarium The Politifact article includes the line, "However, they warn against generalizing that the fence is the sole reason for the drop and raise objections in comparing Israel’s border issues to those in the United States." They also noted that the Israeli wall is 150 miles long, while the US-Mexican border is nearly 2,000 miles long.

Likewise, the Yuma barrier is about 120 miles wide, comparable to the Israeli wall. Yes, apprehensions dropped in the Yuma territory, but a question to ask is did immigrants who would have crossed in Yuma simply decide not to cross the border because of the barrier, or did they simply move their crossing to somewhere where it would be easier? If you drop a big rock in the middle of a river, the river just flows around it.

The USA Today link you provide is not to a factual article but to an opinion piece written by a collaborator in the Trump regime. I do not find Ms. Duke's arguments to be persuasive.

I do not find your arguments to be persuasive, either.

@DunningKruger That's a misrepresentation, that's the "other side," not the article writer. You are litterally taking an attempt at being unbiased and using it to ignore the rest of the article. That is intellectually dishonest. And the USA article includes links, which you ignored.

I'm not surprised at all, nor am I surprised by your earlier disingenuousness. You want to ignore the data, you didn't research anything, and you'll continue to use false information because it agrees with your world view.
