This is nuts. The stubbornness of our public servants in Washington DC is doing nothing but inflaming the hatred and polarity between citizens.

Of course I blame the democrats. I'm a conservative nationalist. I want that big beautiful wall Trump was selling to begin with. Hell throw in some landmines all over the south side of it while you're at it! However, my staunch support for national autonomy and the prevention of European style toxic multiculturalism doesn't really matter much. The hard nosed resistance to everything Trump comes up with is doing nothing but making Joe and Jane citizen hate each other more and more as each day reveals more division. I hear the 'barber shop' and 'check out line ' talk, and most people around here are ready to start a G-damned war. Everyone around here wants the wall, but I understand that the 'barber shop' and 'check out line' talk might be different in blue states. The main thing that is coming from this 'stand off' is an alarming increase in pure raw hatred between the democrats and republicans. I bet Vladimir and Xi are absolutely besides themselves with optimism as fifty percent of the United States is ready to rip the throats out of the other 50 percent with their teeth!

That's why Putin got Trump elected in the first place.
@WoodyAq Pffffft. Yeah. I know Russia sent the ghost of Rasputin to force people to vote against their will. Tricky bastards!
WoodyAq · M
@puck61 No ghosts. Just spooks. Welcomed by Trump with open arms.

Did you catch Trump's spouting of pro-Soviet propaganda on Afghanistan last week? Christ, how long before he drops the pretense and raises the Russian flag over the White House, while his base applauds like trained seals?
@WoodyAq You have to know that I think your opinion is the pinnacle of outrageous stupidity, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual....... so I guess we 'do' agree on one thing! We both agree that the other is complete out of his mind. I wish Trump could do everything he wants to do unhindered and then some!
WoodyAq · M
Fine. But can you explain this?

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. He's absolutely right. Our support for the Mujaheddin in the early eighties was only based on the fact that the "Communist horde" was the bogey man of the day. I was actually part of that dog and pony show myself as a fire support specialist from 79 to 85.

@puck61 So your history knowledge is as bad as Trump... or do you also get all your info from Russia Today? Because the Brezhnev Doctrine wasn't about fighting terrorists.

The point of a democracy is that neither side can “do whatever they want unhindered”. My biggest concern with. Both Trump and his supporters, like yourself is my fear that something very undemocratic lurks beneath the fear and passion.
My further fear is that both sides in the debate are losing part of their souls in all this hatred.@puck61

@WoodyAq The Afghanistan thing was odd but my bigger concern is the consistent attempts to undermine NATO. The beyond crazy interview with Tucker Carlson where Trump brings up the possibility that Montenegro, who don’t even have a common border with Russia, will start a war that due to our NATO commitments we would have to join. The posturing publicly about who pays what, which could have/should have been done quietly. Etc
@WoodyAq @monte3 You guys just aren't fluent in Trumpese. The shenanigans like the murder of Taraki and other incidents can be loosely interpreted to fit Trump's narrative just fine.
WoodyAq · M
@monte3 Oh yeah, the policy problems are real, and significant.

The fact that he talks like he's actually listening to his Kremlin briefings (as opposed to the American ones) is more revealing, than it is a problem per se.
WoodyAq · M
@puck61 Oh, I understand Trumpese. It just sounds better in the original Russian.
@monte3 Well, no doubt hatred is not good. I just see the Rainbow Brites as being evil and undemocratic, and you see (insert appropriate political slur) as being evil and undemocratic which is the point I was underscoring with my post. If I see 'you' and your kind as a insidious plague on humanity, and you see me and my kind as an insidious plague on humanity, then what is there left to do?
monte3 · 70-79, M
I understand your point about the absurdity of mutual demonization. And I agree with it. My reference to “undemocratic” was to your comment to the effect that you wanted Trump to be able to do things “unhindered”, if I misconstrued your point or took it out of context I apologize.
@puck61 who the blip are the “rainbow Brites”?
@monte3 It's just my new favorite slur for the irrationally idealistic , entitled , over sensitive , over emotional, self serving, lazy, disrespectful, irresponsible , and uninformed creatures that call themselves "progressives" or even "liberals", and I have the utmost respect for real liberals . They are just extinct.
monte3 · 70-79, M
For the record none of those adjectives apply to me, my wife or three kids. @puck61
@monte3 Well, you have expressed some leftist views that I find absolutely unthinkable, but you are also civil and seemingly rational. That makes it hard for me to believe you could be left leaning! 😉
You might be one of the rare actual 'liberals' left in this country. I have a good friend who is a hard working responsible and very considerate democrat type person. There are always exceptions to almost every rule.
This country would be up shit creek if it wasn't for the 'real' liberals who rolled up their sleeves and made things cleaner, safer, and more comfortable for all Americans. Things have just gotten seriously polarized since the 90's, and I believe there has been a conspiratorial effort by sinister powers to create a generation ripe for a globalist hive mentality that is easily controlled, and we are beginning to see the results of that effort.
