So apparently in some countries if you don't act all macho and you don't sleep with hookers people think you're gay

Hell it doesn't have to be hookers...if you don't just bed any woman (and lots of them) they think that. And if they don't think you're gay, they just don't consider you much of a "man"...you're not a "real" man or a "man's man". I've seen it here in the U.S. many many times during my adult years.
