My father would never buy anything but a Chevy. He said Ford was anti-Semitic, Henry Ford that is, and Chrysler were greaseballs. My fist car was a Ford, my present car, 54 years later, is still Ford. Unfortunately, my next probably won't be. I like driving a CAR and Ford announced it will stop making cars.

@samueltyler2 So has Chevy but it's not really true. They are going to make "crossover SUV" vehicles. Which are really just cars and car frames but with a "light truck" designation from the EPA.

@MethDozer Yes, I know about crossovers. I happen to like having a trunk/boot, so I hide my luggage. I also don't like the way the SUVs ride so high. I am, obviously, not in the majority, or the auto makers are just skirting the issue of making cars more fuel efficient and less dirty to the environment.

@samueltyler2 Not really. Crossovers typically have car like emissions. Also crossovers usually have a very low and car like ride height and wheelbase. They are doing it because that is what sells the best for them. We are kind of at the point we developed the most practical over-all design for a people transporter and it is a crossover. Can't make a stationwagons anymore so crossovers rule. Comparing a crossover to an actual SUV is not an accurate comparison . They share lite in common and a crossover is more like a car than.any real SUV.

It's purely a smart move to focus on what sells best and the public eats them up because they are just the most practical for urban and suburban driving and life.

@MethDozer I realize that the manufacturers believe that they have data supporting the contention that the crossovers sell and sedans don't. I am stuck with that, although I don't understand the attraction. I have driven several crossovers and prefer the feel of a sedan, I will have to learn to like a crossover.

@samueltyler2 You're past your adventure and parenting stage to though. The crossover is the family station wagon these days. Or a more car like minivan.

Sedans and coups sell, just the American manufacturers shit the let the Euros and Japs take the market.

@MethDozer we had our minivan when the kids were young. My wife loves her Audi Q5. I like my Ford Fusion plug in hybrid.
