I just joined. Is it normal to get email from strangers that seem aggressive? Is this a dating site? I am not looking to flirt or date.

What can I say on my profile so I don't give the wrong impression? I like chatting but not looking for a mate.

Unfortunately there's a population of creeps here who pounce on new female users. It's the biggest barrier to entry to what is an otherwise pretty great site.

The easiest way to reduce the volume of these messages (which will die down over time) is to go to your account settings and turn off 'appear online'.

And just ignore messages from people you haven't interacted with otherwise.
