I’m confused

Out side of my work there are a group of people protesting against mining, fair enough. I asked one of them if they were opposed to mining in general. He said he was, I commented that all the fixtures on there musical equipment came from product being mined. I also reminded him, whether he drove a car here or caught public transport, virtually all those things came from being mined. He just stuck his banner in my face and started dancing around like an idiot and tried to stop me from passing. What a fool, I pushed him aside and kept walking.

I know sometimes mining practices are worth protesting, but mining in general is just silly to protest. The stone age was a long time ago.

@ViciDraco Everything but everything we exist on either comes out of the ground or is cut down. As much as I don’t like it, I also want to survive. People can complain all they like until they have to go to hospital for a life saving operation. The core product that makes the equipment that saves lives is made from minerals, oil and uranium, sadly.

@Les02 if we want to save Earth we have to progress to a point where we are a space faring species. Then we can mine asteroids and lifeless planets to our hearts'content. But we'll never get there if we stopped all mining right now.

@ViciDraco Exactly, try explaining that to those idiots.
