By definition I fall into that category. And it's a perfectly acceptable lifestyle choice, in my opinion.
Fernie · F
@Cavedweller Yep, your name speaks volumes and yes, it IS a "lifestyle" with a lot of freedoms
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Fernie Obviously I get out to buy food for me and the girls. I enjoy occasional visits with close friends. But for the most part it's just me.
Fernie · F
@Cavedweller Same...only one girl here though..with paws
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Fernie My girls are of the feline variety. Smudge and Riff.
Fernie · F
@Cavedweller I find that they are much better company than humans for the most part
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Fernie I agree with you 100%. They just love. And give me loads of affection. Smudge is a real talker. We have dinner conversations. She with her biscuits, I with my human equivalent.
Fernie · F
@Cavedweller Yep...they just love us...and they don't point and laugh when you're naked
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Fernie They don't. Riff is curious of me without my "fur". Does your girl ever barge into the bathroom when you're in there? Both my cats have a water fascination and will sneak in when I'm having a shower..
Fernie · F
@Cavedweller All my cats from the past behaved that way. This one does not know how to be a cat. She was feral for her first 3 years. I had to teach her how to play. I'll keep her anyway
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Fernie Well done! You saved a creature from a fate worse than death. Three years is a long time to stick it out and commit to her.You must love her very much.
Fernie · F
@Cavedweller I do love her like crazy...it's taken her 5 years to sleep on my bed.Not exactly the Queen of affection. I'd save them all if I could
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Fernie Me too. When I picked up Riff from the shelter I nearly came away with several of her littermates. But I can't afford to feed and provide medical attention for more than two. They get the best of everything. I promised them both that I'd take care of their every need when I took them on.
Fernie · F
@Cavedweller YES! I could not volunteer at a shelter because I would want all of them. My girl was diagnosed with renal failure 3 years ago (the vet gave her less than 2 to live but she is still ok)...the vet took my entire life savings and I have to inject her a few times a week with saline solution which is expensive, food and litter is ridiculously expensive unless you buy the toxic, cheap stuff....I really can't imagine how you manage financially...one cat is hard enough...but...the quality of their lives are in our hands so...we do what we must
Cavedweller · 46-50, F
@Fernie I don't cut corners financially when it comes to food and the vet. The litter I use is perfect, it's the clumping type. The waste basically clumps up and gets scooped up twice a day, both trays. Keeps them clean and happy.
Fernie · F
@Cavedweller I don't either. I couldn't live with the guilt of cutting corners. I recently started buying Clump and Slide. The best thing about it is that it is dust free...Arm and Hammer was awful...my entire house was coated. It's a damn science!
