My thoughts on religion are the same as my thoughts on most other issues and areas: live and let live. I just wish that those who hold deeply religious views would grant the rest of us the same courtesy.

@SW-User Live and let LIVE???? WHEN AND WHERE does religion LIVE AND LET LIVE??? Millions have died and are still dying for not accepting some fekking invisible sky fairy...they want ...right NOW to replace the Constitution with that buybull.

@Fernie That's why I said that I wish they'd afford the rest of us the courtesy of live and let live. I've got no issues with freedom of religion, but I think that also should extend to freedom from religion for those of us who want nothing to do with it.

The fallacy that many (not all) religious people operate under is that people can only be motivated to do the right things if we're all scared of some omniscient force that lives in the clouds. Plenty of nonreligious people have moral compasses in spite of not living in fear of some sort of final judgment after we die.

@SW-User yes, there are believers with a brain out there...who worship what they worship (disturbing) with no expectations of the rest of the planet believing the same thing. There will NEVER be that kind of "courtesy" from the other type because that would mean letting go of their power over others. Religion needs to be eradicated

@Fernie I'm not willing to cross that bridge and advocate for the eradication of religion, because then I'd just be forcing my world views onto others, which I would view as hypocritical on my part seeing as how that's my chief complaint about religious people. I understand the sentiment, but I don't think it's my place to tell anyone how they should structure their lives and find meaning in this world.
