How rigid are you in your convictions?

Are you positive that what you believe is correct? Or are you keeping an eye out for different possibilities?

I take pride in listening to all sides of the issues. I never assume I am correct, because so often in my life I have been wrong. However, I do have my little favorites among my theories about things, and they are like beloved pets...very hard to let go of them. I also sometimes develop a deep irritation, sometimes bordering on hatred, for really irritating opinion pundits and politicians who are abrasive and offensive. I sit here listening to the news and swear at them as though they can hear me! LOL!! But that is more being grumpy than being rigid.

@4meAndyou No, I totally get it. So many people are blinded by ideology and they perpetuate that blindness by acting as a source of information. It’s frustrating that the biggest narratives in this country are presented with such a one-sided approach. It just serves to divide more than anything

But it’s nice to form your own ideas on things. You don’t want to be so open-minded that you don’t know anything
The only sort of philosophy that I live by is "anything and anyone could be wrong" and "all knowledge has a half-life".
Basically, keep an open mind, the truth isn't that rigid.

I have to admit I don't stick to that as well as I used to and it causes me anxiety. I was happier when I was more relaxed and flow-y about things.

@AmbivalentFriability So are there particular ideas that have turned solid for you?
@1455spd Not yet.
It's a problem for me, because I struggle to believe anything. Creates this existential dread. That said... I'm pretty skeptical, and open to learning. Hard to say I'm ever "positive" about anything--I don't think anyone has that luxury. Not unless they're willing to blind themselves to the vast variances, and unexplainable aspects of, life.

@Lukeman So funny thing, I rewatched the moon landing video and the flag never waved in the wind. It’s crazy because I thought I remembered it blowing. Lunar winds or something like that. But no, it never moved
