Freedom of speech is very important. So important that it's very first right guaranteed by the US constitution. Anyone who gets triggered enough to want to take that away should go crawl into a safe space cave and live their lives in blissful ignorance.
That being said I also think it's as much a responsibility as it is a right. Knowingly spreading lies and/or stirring up hate is absolutely wrong and calling people out for doing that is the responsibility of anyone who sees it happening.
