I suggest that one votes Democratic because one's personal values of compassion and caring for those less fortunate -- whether in our own country or in Africa -- are best reflected by Democratic candidates. I should think that as an African-American, you would have had enough of the use of fear and name-calling to keep you in line, and preserve the power over you and your life that Republicans know all to well how to wield. You are, in fact, supporting the party of racism, classism, institutionalized corruption on a grand scale, and gleeful mendacity. If that is how you choose to align yourself, and be identified as such, than you are correct in one thing -- you are fortunate to be living in a country where such misguided thinking is NOT punishable by the government.
@sttos you are a hateful person

No -- I have voted Republican when that candidate was truly superior. We are now trying to ignore the tinfoil hat on this insane president who has succeeded in making the entire world over in his image. I am never hateful when talking about the well-being of my country, merely rational and level-headed, as I would hope you would want be.
Prove me wrong.

Clintons (no apostrophe). I don't dare to bring up corruption, I merely mention that under the Republican party it has become institutionalized to a fine degree. Policies and laws that ensure the corruption of those in power, at any level. It is not personal failings of which I speak -- there are plenty on all sides -- but the idea that principals of GOVERNANCE are to be sold to the highest bidder.
I would hope that your parents would have a more overarching view of these things, after they stopped spinning. Obviously, you didn't learn much at their feet.

I don't, in fact. I ache for my country and its people -- we are all American Citizens, and WE DON'T DESERVE TO BE TREATED THIS WAY by this "President". We have been told over and over that everything we knew to be true and trustworthy was a lie, and ONLY because it served the ambitions of this ignorant, self-agrandizing, paranoid (and quite possibly treasonous) sociopath.

Yes there is corruption in Washington..thats not news. Such as Woodward and Bernstein who were pitbulls to bring Nixon down for missing minutes on tapes, yet defended Hilary and her missing emails!
@sttos you lost the election ... be civil and get over it
sttos · 61-69, M
@Peterbilt1955 Check your history books -- The Nixon administration was well proven to have torn up the Constitution time and again to preserve their grip on power. Woodward and Bernstein were pitbulls for the American people against a megalomaniacal president, riding roughshod over the laws on which this country was founded. He was NOT brought down for "missing minutes on a tape" but for deleting them to hide his own lust for power at ANY price! And how many people have to affirm that there was no "there" there regarding Hillary'e emails to satisfy you? And don't tell me that the head of the untouchable FBI was in her pocket! He lost her the election. Was that at her bidding? BTW, this "president" has never been smart enough to know how to use e-mails, lucky for him, but we all have to hear his petty rants from the toilet at 3 in the morning! Enough!
@sttos Trump is making AMERICA wealthy again ... I do not care where or when he tweets ... each is strategic, clever, spot-on and effective.
Be honest ... you just don't like how successful he has been!

@sttos I have lived in both areas of liberals and conservatives. I was treated better in conservative areas. A place where your word meant something, where people had values.
Maybe it's different for different areas, but the current bread of liberals I live with are the equivalent of snake oil sales man. Telling you how much the care and they are all about equality who would actually sell their own mother to make a dollar
I can tell you this, there are awful people on both sides. If you can't treat those around you with respect and dignity, you sure as hell aren't going to be able to do it with millions of people you don't even know.
When did we stop being a nation of people and became a nation of who did you vote for and does that make you the devil or not?

Corruption in the FBI .Using a government office to try to affect the outcome of an election? Thats more like treason.

@questionWeaver He is a shyster con-man who has dissed our allies, trashed our society, and screwed everyone who has ever worked for him. He has NEVER followed through on his grand claims of contributing to charities, has NO WEALTH to back up his claims (and will never let you see his tax returns that prove it), and is lying to you at every turn. He has TOLD you all what to think and what to believe, and you seem more than willing to do so. I am saddened that my countrymen (and women) are so easily misled.
sttos · 61-69, M
And can so easily be turned from our founding principals.
@sttos I am saddened and disappointed by you ... so clouded over and frustrated by losing, that you still are talking nonsense 2 years later.
A very sad episode in your character development.
Trump is the best President ever .. historically, he has set records and will likely be remembered well by history.
As you are aware California starts to lose seats and political power in 2020, with Trump picking up 8 votes in states he won by heavy margins.
His popularity in the states he needs to win remains unassailable at this point.
People like jobs, they like bigger 401Ks, they like lower taxes, they like to start businesses ... and historically speaking ... they have never been doing better.
And you hope to take down the guy making the miracles happen.
Better do it before the voters get a chance to disagree with you!
