Most people will not reveal some things about themselves unless they are confident they are anonymous. Since many experiences and lifestyles discussed here are out of the norm, some may not want their family or employer to know.

Of course. I almost always do. Conversation is conversation. It doesn't need to include photos at all. I've never posted a photo of myself online and have connections I have sustained for years, that are clearly meaningful.
