Everyone naturally has ethnocentric leanings. We also tend to associate with those we identify most with. With open communication those leanings lessen and acceptance is increased. This can be said about more than just race.

@Msp940 I didn't have any ethnocentric leanings for a long time because I never met another person of my own race until I was a preteen.

@Msp940 It makes sense. I live in Chicago, we're famous for our ethnic neighborhoods. I understand people generally feel more comfortable, even if they're not conscious of it, around people of their own ethnicity. It was just a strange experience for me because I'd never met another Romani person up until I was about 11 years old.
