Question about Trump and Kim Jong Un....

I've been down with a lingering flu, I know that a meeting between the two of them was planned but I haven't heard of any outcomes. Please answer with objectivity and courtesy. Thanks

they met in Singapore

they signed a document committing to 'a lasting and stable peace regime' and denuclearisation in front of witnesses & international media

as a gesture of goodwill, Trump suspended the war games in the South China Sea

Kim Jong Un agreed to send home the bodies of all the American soldiers who died in the Korean war

Trump agreed to lift sanctions after Korea dismantles its nuclear weapons capabilities

the agreement was broad
but the specifics have yet to be worked out
@hartfire While I have no great love for Donald Trump, I will give him credit for a productive, potentially peace making plan. Thanks for a great answer hon! 🐹
@Coyotedave611 i'm no Trumpist either - but even the most dubious people sometimes do good things - and it's always worthwhile to give credit where it's due

let's hope the plans for peace succeed! :)
@hartfire Exactly right hon, this is really much more than I expected.

Well the meeting was planned, then John Bolton scared off Kim Jong Un by screaming about the "Libya model" on television and news and stuff. So Kim threatened to cancel the peace talks. Then Trump DID cancel the peace talks, but they decided to reverse the decision and have them anyway. Then Trump found reason to believe Bolton did what he did on purpose, to intentionally undermine the possibility of negotiations because he WANTS America to go to war with North Korea. Which leads me to wonder why this warmongering fuckface isn't on trial right now for treason against his own country.
Who exactly is John Bolton so I can look him up?

@Coyotedave611 He's an attorney and conservative activist, former television commentator, and currently Trump's national security adviser. He's never met a war he didn't like, rallied to invade Iraq and Afghanistan, huge proponent of the Patriot Act and Data Mining Program, advocates for torture of both prisoners of war and of US citizens...bad news all over.
@BlueMetalChick This guy is literally scary! Thanks for a very well thought out thumbnail sketch. I can see now why you hate this guy. I'm going to check him out before bedtime. Thanks again!

They did meet . NK wanted immediate relief from the economic sanctions in return for a promised denuclearization . Trump refused that but did suspend war games with SK in return for progress. NK has destroyed some of its missile manufacturing facilities ... but the process is on going . The US has a Carrier group and nuclear missile subs still at station around the Korean Peninsula . But the mythical “ war” with NK is no longer being pushed by CNN.
@TexChik Thanks so much for enlightening me a bit. Sounds like something just slightly better than an impasse.

@Coyotedave611 you are welcome . Things are going well enough that now the liberals are blaming Trump
For being too nice to a “ murderous dictator” ... 🙄

Thanks for the BA
@TexChik Most welcome hon!
