Anybody just want to give up on career? Burned out

Hey yall.. So ive been working for the majority of my life. Since 16.. waited tables, worked various jobs until a graduated college.. From that point on.. Got my first corporate gig and have been doing that since. I work for a fortune 500 now in Sales Development. My whole career.. Ive had this carrot dangled in front of me.. Ive been promised to move into a manager position etc.. Ive wanted that for the longest time.. Well my last job I got pretty close. Manager dutys but not the title or pay.. I left because I felt I was truly being taken advantage of, promised really huge bonuses for high performance that never happened. So I started looking elsewhere and took this job that is borderline entry level (mind you im 10 years into my career now) because the person that hired me told me I was being hired with a manager position in mind when it came available. Well that guy got fired.. The girl who replaced him was WAY better and in all my reviews let me know that a manager position was on the horizon.. Well now.. its like 2 years in and I dont see ANYWHERE where there are open positions to be a manager. I think that overtime, things like taking time off here and there for sick child, not being 100% on time all the time etc.. have degraded me in the higher ups eyes. They are just like that.. No time off.. Cant EVER be late.. Things HAVE TO be 100% perfect..Ive worked hard and been the highest performer, trainer, etc ..But those dings (being late, taking off) seem to have worked against me. At this rate I wonder if im just going to waste more of my time on this hamster wheel.. I kind of want to just give up on the manager dream, take a part time job and not care anymore.. On the other side of it, no one really gets put into a manager position until about the 3 year mark here. Should I just wait it out? Has anyone had any similar situation? What did you do.. Were you glad you did>?

There is just SO much time that we spend working.. You know spinning our wheels for this big carrot in front of us.. And sometimes I just feel like we are never going to get where we want to be even trying our hardest.. Has anyone ever felt this way?

The penny dropped for me at age 17. I realised I needed to quit work ASAP. I got a job that got me out and got me retired early. Now my life’s my own and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Everyday is the start of another long weekend for me.

Had a few shit jobs. Then started working for myself (Photographer). Made a bit of money. Invested some in property. That made me more and then as soon as a realised i could quit I did.
