I don't know the "whys", but this nice chart from the Wikipedia (that is, not from some weird far-right conspiracy site) simply shows that the human civilization has only existed during an "exceptional" peak of relatively HIGH temperatures between glaciations (glaciations being rather the "norm")... For context, the earliest civilizations are from around 5,000 BCE, agriculture was invented around 10,000 BCE, that is, in the "-10" small section at the very end (far-right) side of the chart...
