I think they should be banned from everyone except for 30 minutes a day.

Mobile phones (or cell phones as you Americans call them) are useful to have in an emergency. If a child is in trouble, they can call for help much more easily. Like with many things though like the Internet and TV, their use should be limited subject to safety controls. They shouldn't be allowed to play on them 24/7, because they end up not interacting in the real world. That's a problem for all ages, actually. But banning them altogether until late teens? That's going a bit far.

Not necessarily banned. But they do need to experience life outside the screen

@Crickets Agreed, but some parents let the phone raise the child

@adventureseeker1971 oh no! That's a privilege to have, not abuse.

Good and bad.
I think the bad of phones definitely outweighs the good.

@Ynotisay sort of my view. Like steaming music, like GPS, but could get that with Garmin, like access to email, but the rest...meh. I don't like social media and everyone's highlight reel, which is only a peak into one's life that they want you to see.

It is a good way to keep track of your kids. You can use parental controls to limit their activity.

I've never had one. I'm not interested in being tied to it and a big bill.
