What is your opinion on math?

Do you find that math is usefull, and it is something that we can not live like. Do you think it is a devlish device that teacher use to torture their students?
I would love to hear your opinion on math, if you would like to share it.

Basic math is essential for day to day living.
Something costs $9:50 and I give a $20 note and since I know basic math I expect $10:50 change.

I am amazed at the younger generation can't do basic math using their own brains.
Not long ago I was at a shop and it's the same example I gave above but the shops Cash register was not working and the young shop assistant could not work out the change to give me using her own brains so we wasted time while she ran around looking for a pocket calculator all the while more people was lineing up behind me getting frustrated because she could not do very basic math using her own brain.

@Robynthebeautiful Yes indeed calculations is also an essential tool! I personally think it due to the mobile and electronic. So they do not practice it or try to get better at it. Therefore, they will find themself in a situation that requires such technology to do it for them! Like going to the library vs googling it! Oh boy!
But I might be wrong!

When electronics was alowed in school I could see that the future is grim.

WEll I might be! it is bad if they do not learn multiplication or adding, I can defently see someone arguing for that. However, I would not really mind if they got a more clear idea of what math is. Then it would be alright.
