We have 300 million registered weapons ... untold number of older unregistered weapons.

And many people need weapons.

Americans do not live in cities ...

Since privately owning a gun became illegal in the United Kingdom in 1996 after the Dunblane massacre there is an average of 50-60 gun deaths per year in the UK.

In 2014 alone in the USA there were over 8,000.

So yeah, keep your guns, it makes total sense.

It's such inaccurate comparison to compare something as small as the UK to that of the united states... Which doesn't struggle with all it's diversities in handling it's social norms.. Two completely different planes of existence...

@SerenitiesScars Works out at around one gun death every one million people in the UK each year, compared to one gun death every 40,000 people in the US in just 2014.

Anyway, I'm not interested in a massive bloody debate over this. I gave some statistics that, in my opinion, hold weight and back-up my initial comment. You don't agree, which is fine. x
