Does it matter what type of fuel you use for your car?

@tallpowerhouseblonde Most cars around here are diesel. The government spent years giving them tax breaks because they thought they were more environmentally friendly, now they're talking about banning them and getting everyone onto petrol-hybrids and electric cars instead.
