The fact that we as a species are living longer.

That means with fluctuations in the birth rate (probably due to current financial constraints......that have lasted ten years by the way !)
That means that for the first time in history there are now more older folk. More childless folk.
Fewer younger wage earners.
Increasing demands on the healthcare sector. For a longer period of time.

@Picklebobble2 Curious as to how you mean the current financial constraints? As a society, we are very close to anyone can live fiscally.

@SW-User The UK hasn't seen a public sector pay increase above 1% for ten years.

That's half a generation who have 'grown up' to adulthood watching inflation boost the price of houses, yet makes them unaffordable due to the increase in minimum wage jobs; the cessation of age old industries that employed their parents; and lack of investment either in infrastructure or it's people.

@Picklebobble2 I understand that well, mostly in Canada minimum wage positions have been lagging behind inflation, and almost every 'job' lags beyond how they imagine they should be at. Yet, there really is a disposition in how people are living comfortably to how they once were many many years ago. Change in society is a turtle, if we don't accept that we will mire ourselves in anger towards a society that is changing.

@SW-User And the 'Baby boomers' get blamed for the 'Generation X-ers' not being able to afford to retire !

@Picklebobble2 A population bloom after the war, that never happened again. I don't mean to sound cold, but that is the definition of deficit. And yes, I'm from the age who has to pay towards that.

@SW-User All of which i understand. As much as it sucks !
But what of my children's generation ?
People your age !
Will there ever be affordable housing if governments insist on keeping wages low ?
What of your aspirations ?
Things you and your generation want from life ?
Are they going to be attainable ? Achievable even ?
