What social stigma does society need to get over?

greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
The idea, arising in an overly technological society, that old folks are useless burdens that need to be ignored, pushed into institutions ASAP and urged gently but firmly toward assisted suicide if they have to fight a serious illness or condition.

The fact that we as a species are living longer.

That means with fluctuations in the birth rate (probably due to current financial constraints......that have lasted ten years by the way !)
That means that for the first time in history there are now more older folk. More childless folk.
Fewer younger wage earners.
Increasing demands on the healthcare sector. For a longer period of time.

@SW-User And the 'Baby boomers' get blamed for the 'Generation X-ers' not being able to afford to retire !

@Picklebobble2 A population bloom after the war, that never happened again. I don't mean to sound cold, but that is the definition of deficit. And yes, I'm from the age who has to pay towards that.

@SW-User All of which i understand. As much as it sucks !
But what of my children's generation ?
People your age !
Will there ever be affordable housing if governments insist on keeping wages low ?
What of your aspirations ?
Things you and your generation want from life ?
Are they going to be attainable ? Achievable even ?

Most things about sex and such. I think we are on our way though

Anything that is a stigma, fairly easy. If we are pointing towards something more symptomatic of judgment - the idea anyone can be different just because they haven't gone through the life of someone else.

Lesbians don't have to have a 'man' in the relationship.
