To get a job requires experience, to get experience requires a job... THAT DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE AMERICA!!!

brownfox · 26-30, M
That's basically how it works everywhere. That's why you have to do internships while you can.
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
@brownfox DING!
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
Wrong, volunteer or learn a trade
StinkyTracy · 22-25, F

Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@RoxClymer Sounds like an excuse
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
if you are in high school most of the day and homework in the evenings, how are you supposed to volunteer ?

Welcome to adulthood 😌 strap yourself in,this is going to get bumpy from here
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Young people are -fucked- in this climate. Uh.. good luck.
SW-User
That's a classic example of a Catch-22.
SW-User
i lied about my job experience. My friend was a realtor and offered to give me a hand 🤷
StinkyTracy · 22-25, F
@DistilledSpirit thats just wrong distilled, if they are good at what they do, why would you condone taking food out of their families mouths like that
DistilledSpirit · 41-45, M
@StinkyTracy Because I feel integrity is more important than experience. I've hired lots of people who didn't have the experience I'd hope for, but they were honest about it and made a case for why they were still the right person for the job; skills can be learned, and people have to start somewhere. What I wouldn't do is have someone on my team who is going to lie to me and defraud my company in order to get what they want.
SW-User
@DistilledSpirit you're one in a million buddy. If more people were like i wouldn't have lied.
Tuscan · 70-79, M
volunteering gives you the experience, which you can then use to get a job.
StinkyTracy · 22-25, F
@Tuscan so i have to slave labour just in hopes i can get paid for my work someday!
Tuscan · 70-79, M
its better than having to pay to gain experience, which is the way it used to work. You could always set up your own business and become self employed.
SW-User
@StinkyTracy Ideally, volunteering isn't enslaving yourself. Pick something you feel passionate towards. I know that doesn't help if you need income now.
luv2fly352 · 70-79, M
When i was your age it was the sames with no credit history after i got out of the Army in the late 60's. And so it goes.
Tminus6453 · M

RoxClymer · 41-45, M

luv2fly352 · 70-79, M
Went through that when i was your age; guess some things don't change.
SW-User

Complaining doesn't change the outcome.

emptysoul44 · 41-45, M
Welcome to life son!
RosaDawn · 46-50, F
And yet everyone did it
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
it doesn't make sense, but not every place will be like that. There are three things, to be good with people, to always be there at the right time, and to do a good job. If you are good at two of them, it generally forgives the third one.

If you're always in time and you're good at what you do, they'll hire you even if you're an ass.

If you're a great person to be around and you're good at what you do, then they'll hire you even if you're not always there in time.

If you're not that great at your job, they'll still hire you because you're always there in time and you're always a pleasure to hear from.

Need to get 2/3.

I quoted an author.
