Was life in the 80s similar to life now?

When we met friends out we arranged it on a landline or in person and then just waited for each other at the place at the time arranged . No mobiles , it seems so long ago.

there is a statistic that shows life took a bad turn somewhere around 1980
Computers and Tv's raising kids as both parents chased the almighty dollar ,
We became a nation of Me ,Me ,Me and the family as a whole went to pot ,
there is no comparison to the world we have today verses pre 1980

no.. no internet. people went out to play..people hanged out at roller rinks and arcades. things were simpler back then.. good music and creative movies. a lot of saturday morning cartoons. puffy hair and tie die clothing. bright lights. things like nintendo and atari were big back then. things were cheaper compared to now. back then you could get away not having a college degree and they would teach you how to get into positions that now require degrees. cars were kind of lame tho. science fiction movies were big. things were a lot more creative back then than they are now.

It was better.

I was at my happiest overall in the 80s,admittedly everything was new and sparkly,but people were more tolerant of each other,companies/councils were less money grabbing,and as for the music,I was truly blessed.

Noooo....completely different. People lived in trees and had no Facebook! Life was barely bearable!
