I just saw the darnedest thing on TV.

Folks apparently were mad that Mr.Olsteen's church didn't open it's doors during a flood...But those same people wouldn't be caught dead at a church when the weather outside isn't frightful.

If we Christians are so terrible, why do you all run to our buildings for safety? Go ask "the universe" for help.

Well, if this were about faith you might have an argument.
But it isn't.
It's about a scumbag who cons millions out of folk every year through televangelism to create and run his 'church' for the benefit of (supposedly) all mankind.
The one time this 'Man of God' might actually have been able to do something to help. and he locked everybody out.

@Picklebobble2 I'll ask again: if the church itself was flooded, what could be done?

Also, do you know how long it takes to gather a staff for that stuff? It's not a snap your fingers type of operation.

All this time we say "God loves you and wants you to be a part of him" and we get jeered at. We got episodes of the Simpsons that make fun of us. Same with family guy.

Why should we keep on reaching out to those that don't want to be reached?

How come when it all goes exactly as the Bible warns, you all want to act like no one told you?

Again, why should we do anything more for you all?

No matter what we do, you won't ever listen.

@TinyGiant Because it's only reaching out when YOU decide it is ! It's only reaching out if the church can see any advantage for itself ! It doesn't serve anyone but itself !
Televangelism is the WORST example of it !

@Picklebobble2 benefits us?

Oh yeah. Because people coming to know the Lord means God gives us an advance.

And you're still dodging my questions. Why should the church go on catering to you?

You call us terrible but then get mad when we withdraw. Make up your mind!

And those who don't go to conferences should avoid the conference centre during these disasters? Non-sports fans, sports facilities?
TinyGiant · 31-35, M
@donontario As so many like to say "the church and the government have no right to be hand in hand". So why do so many expect us to be when disaster strikes?

Why should we keep begging people to listen to the word, only to be made fun of, spit on, and labeled insane? Why should we keep caring about you?
donontario · 70-79, M
If he had wanted to convert people 'beg them to hear the word', then what would be considered common sense would have been to open the doors. Mr.Olsteen is a hypocrite and does not live, it is apparent, by the christian values he expounds upon.
TinyGiant · 31-35, M
@donontario first off, it isn't man that converts.

And you're not answering my questions. Why do you all expect us to keep holding our hands out to you when all you've done is slap them away?

Why do you get to say what we do when, any other time, you want nothing to do with us?

We're the ones volunteering to feed the homeless on a regular. We're the ones donating books, clothes, baby food and another plethora of items to people around the world. But that all gets ignored because you want to argue.
