It's a non-winnable argument.
A catch-22.
You're either reliant on England or the E:U.
Neither is independence.

@Picklebobble2 Control 25% of our finances or control 99%. I know which one seems closer to independence.

And what is membership going to cost you ? In terms of cash contribution to the E:U ?
How much of your independence with regard to setting your own laws is it going to cost you ? when you no longer have control of your borders and other things you currently take for granted ?

We don't care about our borders as much as little Englanders mate. I am no fan of the EU but with them we have a lot more control over our laws than we do with Westminster. I am of the opinion the EU will crumble anyway but we have to get out of the UK while we have our chance. It will cost us a lot but how much more has Westminster cost us over the years.

@thatscottishguy and there's your catch 22 !
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Not really a catch 22 when one is clearly the better option

More control over finances, more control over laws, get rid of things like trident. How can it not be a win? Because there may be some scary foreign men who take some jobs?😂

Who are you trying to kid ??
Three votes AT HOME for independence in the last 5 years and it gets defeated every time !
Are you seriously suggesting being part of the E:U will be seen as a breakaway from the union ?
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
3 votes? How many referendums you think we had? The elections were based on other things to? Plenty of indy voters went Labour. 1 referendum in which it was narrowly defeated. Yes staying in the EU and getting away from Westminster will be seen as breaking away from the union. Just choosing to be part of a less damaging union. It would be much better to be part of the EU than the UK.
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
@Picklebobble2 I am kidding nobody Nigel 😜
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Don't misunderstand me, personally i've no thought either way.
But an awful lot of things would have to happen in order for Scotland to be financially independent from either !
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
Of course but it still can't be called a catch 22. It is a pretty easy choice.
