Today I watched a North Korean documentary about western society. You wouldn't believe what they said about it.

I guess people can choose to live in a free society or be enslaved by socialism. One society gives you access to many types of food, the other a half an apple a week from the great leader. One allows you to speak your mind, the other feeds you propaganda and everybody claps like a seal for the great leader. One has freedom of the press, the other a government state run media. One allows God, the other forbids God. One has private property rights, the other the government owns everything. One allows freedom of speech, the other imprisons you for it. One cherishes individual liberty, the other demands a conformity cult.

I wonder how far away we are from becoming like North Korea. Twenty years ago, we were light years away, ten years ago a thousand miles away, today only a hundred miles away. The road to modern tyranny fits like a velvet glove, it crushes us slowly when people become willfully ignorant and blind. When people choose to exist rather than live, they wake up in an Orwellian world we could have never imagined.

Always easy to be critical of another's country. Especially if the price of criticizing your own isn't likely to be good !

Watch Pulgasari. It's a surprisingly okay north korean movie.
