If guerilla warfare worked well enough for Vietnamese farmers, then how on Earth can we justify defense spending of any kind?

With all the technology we have we can kill mass quantities with minimal risk to ourselves. It's more comfortable than guerrilla warfare. I personally believe an overwhelmingly superior military is the path to peace in this messed up world.

@puck61 I used to believe that, but I don't think it stands up to scrutiny. Should we need a powerful military, we could shift in and out of having military spending. Instead, we have no off switch, so we just look around for something to blow up. Sometimes it seems like the only reason why we have a military is Israel.
