A government falseflagging operations and starting wars that costs 50.000 American lives wouldn't think twice about sacrificing 3500 lives and a few ships to bring a country out of depression and engage in war.

Actually there were documents discovered in German archives of intercepted transcripts of phone calls between Churchill and rosevelt discussing this very plot . I don't think they knew precisely when or where, but they knew it was comming. If memory serves, they were anticipating an attack on the alution islands

@SW-User no, a plot about keeping quite and letting the Japanese attack wherever they were going to attack and thus bringing us into the war
